FLOWEASE W-3499 is a highly efficient silicone-based wetting and levelling additive developed for aqueous coating systems, adhesives, and maintenance formulations. Based on a polyether-modified siloxane chemistry, it delivers a significant reduction in surface tension, enabling excellent substrate wetting, flow, and levelling on a wide variety of difficult surfaces.
Unlike many silicone surfactants, FLOWEASE W-3499 is engineered to improve wetting and levelling without increasing surface slip and without impairing recoatability. It is particularly suitable for water-borne systems without organic co-solvents, making it ideal for modern low-VOC and environmentally conscious formulations.

FLOWEASE W-3499 is suitable for a broad range of water-based coating technologies:
Architectural coatings
Automotive coatings
Wood and furniture coatings
Industrial and protective coatings
Can and coil coatings
Baking systems and hybrid aqueous systems
It is especially effective in styrene-acrylic, pure acrylic, acrylic/PU blends, and polyurethane dispersions.
In aqueous adhesive formulations, FLOWEASE W-3499 improves wetting of critical substrates, supporting uniform spread and better surface contact without increasing slip or compromising bonding performance.
Typical uses include:
Water-based construction adhesives
Industrial and specialty aqueous adhesive systems
FLOWEASE W-3499 is also suitable for aqueous maintenance products, where clean wetting and levelling are required without surface slickness.
Typical uses include:
Plasticizer-free floor care products
Wax-free or wax-based cleaning formulations
Maintenance and surface care liquids

Significantly lowers surface tension to improve wetting on difficult or low-energy substrates.
Produces smoother, more uniform films with reduced defects such as craters or poor lay-down.
Maintains controlled surface feel—important for coatings requiring grip or overcoatability.
Only marginally stabilizes foam, reducing the need for additional defoaming.
Does not impair intercoat adhesion or subsequent coating layers.
Performs best in purely aqueous formulations designed for low-VOC compliance.
Optimal dosage depends on formulation, substrate, and performance target. Laboratory trials are recommended.
