High Reactivity Metakaolin Mr Pozzo

MR POZZO High Reactivity Metakaolin is an ultra-fine, highly reactive pozzolanic mineral additive produced by controlled calcination of high-purity kaolin. The calcination process removes chemically bound water (dehydroxylation) and converts crystalline kaolinite into a largely amorphous alumino-silicate phase with very high surface area and strong silica–alumina reactivity. In cementitious systems, MR POZZO reacts rapidly with calcium hydroxide (CH) released during cement hydration to form additional C-S-H / C-A-S-H gel, refining pore structure and significantly improving strength and durability.

High pozzolanic reactivity (fast CH consumption)

Ultra-fine micro-filler effect (pore refinement)

Improves matrix density and interfacial transition zone (ITZ)

Enhances early-age and long-term strength development

Improves resistance to permeability-driven deterioration mechanisms

Benefits in Concrete

Higher compressive strength (often noticeable at 3–7 days onward)

Lower permeability & water absorption → improved durability

Reduced chloride ion ingress → better corrosion protection for rebar

Improved sulfate resistance and reduced chemical attack pathways

Mitigates ASR risk (with proper mix design)

Reduced efflorescence and improved surface finish / abrasion resistance

Can reduce cement demand at target strength (supporting lower CO₂ mixes)

Typical dosage guidance (starting point): 5–15% replacement of cementitious binder by weight (optimum depends on cement, w/b ratio, admixtures, and performance targets).
