Milled Glass Fibers MILIGLASS 50

Micro-Reinforcement Fibers for Crack Control, Strength Enhancement & Long-Term Durability

Milled Glass Fibers are precision-cut and milled microfibers produced from continuous glass filaments and engineered specifically to reinforce cementitious and polymer-modified construction systems. Unlike long chopped strands that mainly improve macro-crack bridging, milled fibers work at the micro scale—dispersing throughout the matrix to increase toughness, cohesion, and resistance to micro-crack initiation.

In construction formulations, milled glass fibers act as a micro-rebar network that enhances tensile and flexural performance, reduces plastic and drying shrinkage cracking, and improves impact/abrasion resistance—particularly in thin sections and high-wear surfaces such as industrial flooring, overlays, repair mortars, and grouts.

Benefits in Roofing Systems

Improved tensile & flexural performance

Reinforces the matrix and increases resistance to tensile and bending stresses.

Reduced plastic & drying shrinkage cracks

Dispersed microfibers control microcrack formation and propagation.

Higher toughness and impact resistance

Improves energy absorption and reduces brittle failure and edge chipping.

Enhanced abrasion resistance

Upgrades wear durability in floors, overlays, and high-traffic zones.

Better dimensional stability

Supports crack resistance and shape retention in thin-section cement products.

Typical Dosage Guidelines – Milled Glass Fibers (Construction)

Actual dosage depends on cement content, aggregate grading, polymer modification, and required performance. Laboratory trials are recommended to optimize final dosage.

Repair Mortars & Patch Compounds

Dosage: 0.3 – 1.0% by weight of total dry mix
Improves crack resistance, edge durability, and impact strength in structural and non-structural repairs.

Non-Shrink Grouts & Anchoring Systems

Dosage: 0.2 – 0.6% by weight of total dry mix
Enhances toughness, reduces cracking tendency, and improves dimensional stability under load.

Industrial Flooring & Overlays

Dosage: 0.4 – 1.2% by weight of total dry mix
Improves abrasion resistance, wear durability, and resistance to micro-cracking in high-traffic areas.

Cementitious Coatings & Waterproofing Slurries

Dosage: 0.2 – 0.5% by weight of binder (cement + polymer)
Improves film integrity, reduces hairline cracking, and enhances coating durability.

Polymer-Modified Mortars & Screeds

Dosage: 0.3 – 0.8% by weight of total dry mix
Provides micro-reinforcement while maintaining workable rheology and finish quality.

Safety & Handling

Milled glass fibers are generally safe for industrial handling; however, fine fibers/dust may cause mechanical irritation.

Avoid inhalation of airborne fibers

Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged skin exposure

Use appropriate ventilation during mixing

Recommended PPE

Safety goggles
Gloves
Dust mask / respirator (in dusty handling areas)

Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for detailed handling guidance.

Storage

Store in a dry, covered, well-ventilated area

Protect from moisture and contamination

Keep bags sealed after opening

Avoid excessive compaction to maintain flow and dispersibility
