WP Series – WP-210 White Ceramic Microspheres

WP-210 White Ceramic Microspheres consist of thick-walled, hollow microspherical particles of alkali alumino-silicate ceramic, engineered as a functional microfiller for multiphase formulations including paints/coatings, polymer composites, sealants, and cementitious matrices.

The grade is designed to deliver a controlled balance of optical whiteness, reduced bulk density, high intrinsic hardness, and high-temperature dimensional stability, arising from its ceramic composition and narrow spherical morphology.

From a microstructural and rheological standpoint, the near-spherical geometry provides a low specific surface area and promotes efficient particle packing with reduced interparticle friction. This behavior translates to improved dispersion stability, flow/leveling, and sprayability, while enabling partial substitution of irregular extenders with potential binder-demand reduction at equivalent or higher solids loading. The ceramic phase is chemically inert, non-combustible, and broadly compatible with both aqueous and solvent-based binder systems.

Benefits

Superior burnish resistance in decorative paints

In flat, matte and low-sheen decorative emulsions, WP-210 helps minimize shine patches created by rubbing, cleaning, or furniture contact. Its high ceramic hardness and uniform spherical geometry support a more wear-stable surface, reducing local polishing and maintaining an even appearance over time.

Improved gloss / sheen control

WP-210 can help control gloss by contributing to controlled micro-texture at the film surface without causing major viscosity increase, supporting consistent low-sheen finishes.

Enhanced scrub resistance & durability

Ceramic microspheres are intrinsically hard and resist breakdown under abrasion, improving scrub life versus softer, irregular extenders.

Better washability / cleanability

Spherical particles help reduce soil entrapment compared to angular fillers, improving wipe-clean performance and surface uniformity after washing.

Improved flow and leveling (application feel)

“Micro ball-bearing” behavior reduces interparticle friction, improving flow, leveling and sprayability—useful in decorative paints where finish and application are critical.

Higher packing density & lower binder demand

Low surface-area-to-volume ratio enables efficient packing, helping maintain viscosity at higher filler loading and potentially reducing binder demand.

Lightweighting / density reduction

Hollow spheres reduce paint density and can contribute to improved coverage per kg, supporting cost and logistics benefits.

High whiteness & clean shade

Supports bright, clean shades and appearance-critical decorative systems.

Safety & Hazards

WP-210 White Ceramic Microspheres are inorganic, chemically inert ceramic materials and are generally regarded as safe for handling in industrial environments.

Non-flammable and non-combustible
Does not decompose or emit hazardous fumes under normal conditions of use
Low chemical reactivity with common binders, solvents, and additives

Handling precautions

Avoid generation of excessive dust during handling and transfer
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety goggles, gloves, and dust masks/respirators when handling powders
Ensure adequate ventilation in processing areas
Wash hands thoroughly after handling

Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for detailed occupational health, exposure limits, and regulatory information.

Storage & Handling Guidelines

Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area

Protect from moisture and humidity to prevent agglomeration

Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use

Avoid prolonged exposure to water or damp conditions

Do not stack bags in a manner that may cause mechanical damage

Under recommended storage conditions, WP-210 maintains its physical and performance characteristics for extended periods.
