GFLAM- APP10

GFLAM-APP10 is an Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP) Type I halogen-free flame retardant, optimized for intumescent flame-retardant (IFR) systems in thermoplastics such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), and EVA. It promotes rapid char/foam layer formation under heat exposure, creating an insulating barrier that reduces heat transfer and slows the diffusion of oxygen and volatile fuel to the flame zone. With low water solubility and a high thermal decomposition onset, GFLAM-APP10 is well suited for extrusion and injection molding where stable processing and consistent FR performance are required in HFFR formulations.

GFLAM-APP10 functions as an acid source and blowing/char-promoting component within IFR systems, typically used with compatible carbon sources (polyols) and nitrogen synergists to build a cohesive, expanded char. The intumescent shield helps reduce flame spread and can improve anti-dripping behavior in polyolefin systems when the overall formulation is balanced. GFLAM-APP10 supports cleaner halogen-free fire performance compared with conventional halogen/antimony packages, making it relevant for applications targeting reduced corrosive smoke. It is engineered to disperse effectively in polyolefin matrices with appropriate coupling/dispersion aids, supporting consistent melt flow and molded surface quality. In EVA and PE compounds, it can be used to develop halogen-free cable compounds and molded parts where a balance of mechanical properties and flame retardancy is needed. Final FR rating (e.g., UL 94) depends strongly on polymer type, filler level, synergists, and part thickness, so loading should be optimized through lab and application trials. Typical end-uses include HFFR polyolefin compounds for wire & cable, appliance and electrical housings, automotive interior parts, construction profiles, and general-purpose molded components requiring intumescent fire protection.

Properties

Halogen-free APP Type I flame retardant designed for intumescent (IFR) systems.

Promotes expanded char/foam barrier to block heat and mass transfer during combustion.

Low solubility characteristics support better retention in humid service compared with more soluble FR salts (system dependent).

High thermal stability / decomposition onset suitable for polyolefin extrusion and injection molding.

Works as an acid source in IFR systems; often paired with carbon sources and nitrogen synergists for strongest char.

Can be supplied as free-flowing powder/granules for easier feeding and consistent compounding.

Benefits

Strong intumescent protection

creates an insulating char that slows flame spread and reduces burning intensity.

Halogen-free fire strategy

supports lower corrosive smoke concerns versus halogen/antimony packages.

Processing suitability

compatible with common thermoplastic compounding methods (extrusion, injection molding) when formulation is optimized

Formulation flexibility

can be tuned with synergists (carbon source, nitrogen donor, smoke suppressants) to achieve targeted ratings.

Broad polyolefin use

applicable across PP/PE/EVA HFFR systems for molded parts and cable compounds.

Safety & Hazards

Handle as an industrial powder; avoid breathing dust and avoid contact with eyes/skin.

Use PPE: safety glasses, gloves, protective clothing; dust mask/respirator where dust can form.

Provide local exhaust ventilation during weighing, feeding, and mixing.

Maintain good housekeeping to prevent dust accumulation.

First aid: rinse eyes with water; wash skin with soap and water; move to fresh air if dust is inhaled.

Refer to the latest SDS for hazard classification, exposure limits, and regulatory requirements.

Storage & Handling Guidelines

Store in original, tightly closed packaging in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area.

Protect from moisture to prevent caking and to maintain flow and dosing accuracy.

Keep away from strong oxidizers and incompatible reactive chemicals.

Reseal opened packs immediately; follow FIFO inventory practice.

Shelf life: as per COA/SDS (commonly 12–24 months under recommended storage).
