Water-based (aqueous) coatings often generate foam during manufacturing, pumping, mixing, filling, and end-use application. This foam can slow down production, create dosing and packaging issues, and lead to surface defects that reduce final quality. In online application processes, foam can cause inconsistency, poor film formation, and variability in coating/adhesive performance. Microfoam is especially troublesome because it is harder to break and can remain trapped in the wet film.
FOAMSTAB WBA is a mineral-oil / wax-derivative based antifoam designed to quickly knock down foam and suppress its re-generation in aqueous systems. It disperses easily in water, making it convenient to incorporate into formulations and process streams.
FOAMSTAB WBA improves process reliability by stabilizing flow, reducing air entrainment, and minimizing defects linked to foam. The result is higher productivity, better economics, and improved product appearance and consistency. FOAMSTAB WBA is APEO-free, supporting cleaner formulation goals.

FOAMSTAB WBA: Strong foam knockdown + suppression of re-foaming in many aqueous adhesive systems; particularly useful where easy dispersion and microfoam reduction are needed.
Silicone Defoamers: Often extremely fast foam knockdown and strong performance across many systems—especially tough foams.
FOAMSTAB WBA: Typically preferred when formulators want reliable foam control with lower risk of surface-related issues in sensitive applications.
Silicone Defoamers: Can sometimes increase the risk of surface defects (e.g., craters/fisheyes) or intercoat issues in certain formulations, depending on resin, surfactants, and application conditions.
FOAMSTAB WBA: Dispersible in water, non-ionic, easy to handle and incorporate.
Silicone Defoamers: Can be highly effective but may require careful selection and incorporation technique to ensure compatibility and avoid separation or surface problems.
Choose FOAMSTAB WBA when you need dependable foam control in aqueous adhesives, want microfoam destruction, easy dispersion, and APEO-free positioning.
Choose Silicone Defoamers when maximum knockdown is needed for very persistent foam—while managing compatibility and surface sensitivity through trials.
FOAMSTAB 520 is a polymer-based, silicone-free defoamer formulated in a hydrocarbon solvent system with a low flash point, and must be handled as a flammable liquid.
Vapors may form flammable mixtures with air near heat or ignition sources.
Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause mild skin or eye irritation.
Use only in well-ventilated areas to avoid inhalation of vapors or aerosol mist.
Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes; wear protective gloves, goggles, and suitable clothing.
Do not smoke, eat, or drink while handling the product.
Ensure proper grounding and bonding when transferring material to prevent static discharge.
Always keep the container tightly closed after use.
Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from heat, sparks, open flames, and other ignition sources.
At low temperatures, FOAMSTAB 520 may show slight turbidity or separation; warm gently to ~40 °C and mix well before use.
Protect from direct sunlight and store in original, properly labeled containers.
Inhalation: Move affected person to fresh air and keep comfortable. Seek medical attention if symptoms appear.
Skin Contact: Wash thoroughly with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing. Seek medical attention if irritation develops.
Eye Contact: Rinse with clean water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if present. Seek medical assistance if irritation persists.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth and seek immediate medical attention.
Use foam, CO₂, dry chemical, or water spray to extinguish.
Burning may produce irritating fumes and combustion gases.
Firefighters should wear full protective gear and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
Eliminate ignition sources and ensure good ventilation.
Absorb spilled material with inert absorbents (sand, diatomaceous earth, universal absorbent).
Collect residues in suitable containers for disposal as per local regulations.
Prevent contamination of drains, surface water, or soil.
Avoid uncontrolled release into the environment.
Dispose of waste material, absorbents, and containers strictly in accordance with local disposal rules.
FOAMSTAB 520 is supplied as a technical-grade industrial chemical and is not intended for food-contact applications.
