Foamstab FS 530

Foamstab FS 530 is a high-efficiency 5% active fluorosilicone-based defoamer engineered for premium solvent-borne coating systems, industrial paints, and protective finishes.

Fluorosilicone technology offers superior chemical resistance, rapid foam suppression, and excellent compatibility compared to conventional silicone defoamers—making FS 530 ideal for high-solids PU, epoxy, alkyd, and demanding protective coating formulations.

Its specialized blend of fluorosilicone, performance polymers, and fast-evaporating solvents ensures extremely fast air release, stable antifoam action, and smooth film formation without craters or haze. FS 530 performs consistently during grinding, high-shear dispersion, application, and storage, delivering a defect-free finish with high clarity and gloss.

Benefits

Dual Action: Defoaming + Levelling

Fluorosilicone technology provides powerful foam suppression while simultaneously improving flow and leveling, ensuring smoother, defect-free films.

Superior Foam Knockdown

Rapidly destroys surface foam and microfoam—much faster than standard silicone defoamers.

Excellent Performance in Clear Coats

Prevents haze, craters, fisheyes, and surface irregularities, making it ideal for PU, NC, and acrylic clear coats.

High Chemical & Solvent Resistance

Fluorosilicone backbone remains effective in strong solvents, aromatics, and high-solids resin systems.

Enhanced Compatibility

Reduces the risk of surface disturbances, even in sensitive 2K PU, epoxy, and automotive refinish coatings.

Low Dosage, High Efficiency

With 5% active content, Foamstab FS 530 provides long-lasting defoaming at minimal addition levels.

Stable Under High-Shear Processing

Maintains performance during grinding, milling, dispersion, pumping, and high-speed spray applications.

Improves Film Appearance & Gloss

Provides uniform flow, reduced air entrapment, and outstanding clarity in high-gloss systems.

Effective in Thick Films & High-Build Systems

Helps eliminate entrapped air in epoxy flooring, PU industrial coatings, and protective coatings.

Safety & Hazard Information

General Hazards

FOAMSTAB 520 is a polymer-based, silicone-free defoamer formulated in a hydrocarbon solvent system with a low flash point, and must be handled as a flammable liquid.
Vapors may form flammable mixtures with air near heat or ignition sources.
Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause mild skin or eye irritation.

Handling Precautions

Use only in well-ventilated areas to avoid inhalation of vapors or aerosol mist.
Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes; wear protective gloves, goggles, and suitable clothing.
Do not smoke, eat, or drink while handling the product.
Ensure proper grounding and bonding when transferring material to prevent static discharge.
Always keep the container tightly closed after use.

Storage Conditions

Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from heat, sparks, open flames, and other ignition sources.
At low temperatures, FOAMSTAB 520 may show slight turbidity or separation; warm gently to ~40 °C and mix well before use.
Protect from direct sunlight and store in original, properly labeled containers.

First Aid Measures

Inhalation: Move affected person to fresh air and keep comfortable. Seek medical attention if symptoms appear.
Skin Contact: Wash thoroughly with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing. Seek medical attention if irritation develops.
Eye Contact: Rinse with clean water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if present. Seek medical assistance if irritation persists.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth and seek immediate medical attention.

Fire & Explosion Hazards

Use foam, CO₂, dry chemical, or water spray to extinguish.
Burning may produce irritating fumes and combustion gases.
Firefighters should wear full protective gear and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).

Spill & Leak Procedures

Eliminate ignition sources and ensure good ventilation.
Absorb spilled material with inert absorbents (sand, diatomaceous earth, universal absorbent).
Collect residues in suitable containers for disposal as per local regulations.
Prevent contamination of drains, surface water, or soil.

Environmental Considerations

Avoid uncontrolled release into the environment.
Dispose of waste material, absorbents, and containers strictly in accordance with local disposal rules.

Regulatory Note

FOAMSTAB 520 is supplied as a technical-grade industrial chemical and is not intended for food-contact applications.

Storage & Handling Guidelines

General Storage Conditions

Store FOAMSTAB 520 in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Keep containers tightly closed when not in use to prevent contamination and solvent loss.
Avoid storing near sparks, open flames, or ignition sources, as the product contains a low-flash hydrocarbon solvent.

Temperature Considerations

If stored below 0 °C, the product may exhibit slight turbidity or separation.
To restore full uniformity, warm gently to approx. 40 °C and stir well before use.
Do not expose sealed containers to temperatures above 45–50 °C to prevent pressure build-up.

Handling Precautions

Ensure adequate ventilation during use to avoid inhalation of vapors.
Wear appropriate PPE, including gloves, goggles, and protective clothing.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke while handling the product.
Avoid splashing or high-speed addition to prevent localized over-foaming or crater formation.

Container Handling

Use only the original, properly labeled containers supplied by the manufacturer.
Ensure drums and containers are always grounded and bonded during transfer to prevent static discharge.
Use pump or controlled pour methods—avoid rough handling or dropping containers.

Compatibility & Stability

Keep away from strong oxidizing agents, acids, and alkalis.
FOAMSTAB 520 remains stable for at least 12 months under recommended storage conditions.
Re-homogenize gently if stored for a long time.

Spill & Leak Guidelines

In case of small spills, absorb with inert absorbents like sand or universal absorbent.
Collect the absorbed material into suitable containers for disposal as per local regulations.
Avoid letting the product enter drains, soil, or natural water bodies.

Fire Safety Measures

Keep suitable extinguishing media nearby: foam, CO₂, dry powder, or water spray.
Ensure fire protection systems are in place for storage areas containing flammable liquids.

Regulatory & Safety Notes
