Foamstab 0370

Bio-Based Defoamer for Universal Water-Based Coatings (Vegetable Oil/Wax + Silicone)

Water-based coatings often develop foam during dispersion, milling, pumping, tinting, and application—especially in surfactant-rich systems. Foam reduces process efficiency, creates filling/packaging problems, and traps microbubbles that can cause pinholes, haze, and surface defects.

FOAMSTAB 0370 is a next-generation bio-based defoamer designed for universal waterborne coatings where sustainability and performance must go together.

It is built on vegetable oil and wax components with a small amount of special silicone to deliver fast knockdown and strong long-term foam suppression.

FOAMSTAB 0370 can replace conventional mineral oil / petroleum-based defoamers while maintaining excellent compatibility in both pigmented and clear systems. It supports modern waterborne chemistries such as acrylic, styrene-acrylic, and vinyl polymer systems. Its unique manufacturing approach provides excellent storage stability and consistent performance over time.

FOAMSTAB 0370 is especially suited for architectural, industrial, and wood coatings where low-defect, high-quality films are essential.

System compatibility Suitable for pigmented and clear waterborne coatings

Benefits

Bio-based / sustainable alternative to mineral oil / petroleum-based defoamers

Fast defoaming performance with excellent initial knockdown

Very good long-term efficiency—helps control re-foaming during processing and application

Excellent compatibility in both pigmented and clear systems

Helps deliver cleaner films (reduced microfoam, fewer bubbles) and more consistent appearance

Excellent storage stability due to a controlled production process

Can support improved coating robustness in suitable systems (e.g., better resistance trends associated with reduced entrapped air)

Safety & Hazard Information

General Hazards

FOAMSTAB 520 is a polymer-based, silicone-free defoamer formulated in a hydrocarbon solvent system with a low flash point, and must be handled as a flammable liquid.
Vapors may form flammable mixtures with air near heat or ignition sources.
Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause mild skin or eye irritation.

Handling Precautions

Use only in well-ventilated areas to avoid inhalation of vapors or aerosol mist.
Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes; wear protective gloves, goggles, and suitable clothing.
Do not smoke, eat, or drink while handling the product.
Ensure proper grounding and bonding when transferring material to prevent static discharge.
Always keep the container tightly closed after use.

Storage Conditions

Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from heat, sparks, open flames, and other ignition sources.
At low temperatures, FOAMSTAB 520 may show slight turbidity or separation; warm gently to ~40 °C and mix well before use.
Protect from direct sunlight and store in original, properly labeled containers.

First Aid Measures

Inhalation: Move affected person to fresh air and keep comfortable. Seek medical attention if symptoms appear.
Skin Contact: Wash thoroughly with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing. Seek medical attention if irritation develops.
Eye Contact: Rinse with clean water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if present. Seek medical assistance if irritation persists.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth and seek immediate medical attention.

Fire & Explosion Hazards

Use foam, CO₂, dry chemical, or water spray to extinguish.
Burning may produce irritating fumes and combustion gases.
Firefighters should wear full protective gear and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).

Spill & Leak Procedures

Eliminate ignition sources and ensure good ventilation.
Absorb spilled material with inert absorbents (sand, diatomaceous earth, universal absorbent).
Collect residues in suitable containers for disposal as per local regulations.
Prevent contamination of drains, surface water, or soil.

Environmental Considerations

Avoid uncontrolled release into the environment.
Dispose of waste material, absorbents, and containers strictly in accordance with local disposal rules.

Regulatory Note

FOAMSTAB 520 is supplied as a technical-grade industrial chemical and is not intended for food-contact applications.
